  • Avoid Other Skin Treatments: Refrain from chemical peels, tanning, waxing, microneedling, or laser treatments in the treatment area for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Stop Active Skincare Products: Discontinue retinoids, Retin-A®, tretinoin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and other exfoliating or active skincare products 48–72 hours before treatment.
  • Medical History: Please inform your provider of any significant medical history, allergies, medications, or prior cosmetic procedures before treatment.
  • Pain Management: Consider taking Tylenol® (acetaminophen) and/or Advil® (ibuprofen) 30–60 minutes before your appointment to help minimize any potential discomfort during treatment.

During the Treatment

  • Procedure Duration: Sofwave treatments typically last 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.
  • Ultrasound Application: The Sofwave device delivers Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam Technology to stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin. You may feel a mild warming sensation, but the treatment is generally comfortable.
  • Comfort Measures: Most patients report minimal discomfort. Cooling measures are used throughout the treatment to enhance comfort. ProNox can be used if needed.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

To ensure optimal healing and results, follow these post-treatment instructions:
  • Expected Downtime: Sofwave® typically has minimal to no downtime. Mild redness, warmth, or slight swelling may occur immediately after treatment and usually resolves within a few hours.
  • Gentle Skincare: Use gentle skincare products for the first 24 hours after treatment. Avoid harsh active ingredients such as retinoids, exfoliants, and acids during this time.
  • Resume Normal Skincare: You may resume your normal skincare routine 24 hours after treatment once any sensitivity has resolved.
  • Hydrate & Moisturize: Keep skin well hydrated and moisturized to support barrier recovery and enhance comfort.
  • Sun Protection: Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 1 week after treatment.
  • Pain Relief: Most patients experience minimal discomfort after treatment. Tylenol® (acetaminophen) may be used if needed.
